The Vanitas Vanitatum project is inspired by the work of Caravaggio, particularly his use of tenebrism and dramatic lighting. Rooted in the meaning of ‘vanity of vanities,’ the project reflects on the transience of life and the fragility of human existence. Through the interplay of light and shadow, I explore the tension between presence and disappearance, revealing objects and moments as both tangible and fleeting. Drawing from the symbolic tradition of vanitas, the work considers memory, loss, and the impermanence of material things, while using light not only as illumination but as a means of evoking introspection and emotional depth.
